Project overview
- Caffeine can help your reaction time, your athletic abilities, and motivation. You can build a resistance to caffeine which means the less you consume the better it will work for you. Caffeine can cause headaches if use it to often you might have noticed when you drink a lot of it and try to stop having it but to prevent it is to slowly cut back on the coffee or start to drink a lot so instead of stopping or starting really fast you should slowly cut back or slowly drink more. You are inherited your caffeine sensitivity or how caffeine is metabolized in your system which means you won't have the same sensitivity to it as someone else. Caffeine blocks out one of the neurotransmitters (adenosine) which causes you to be more awake instead of sleepy which is what adenosine does to you.
Academic and Life Skills
This we learned a lot about brain chemistry that was a lot to take in but learned a lot of skills to take in the hard information into easier ways for us to understand. I feel like it all made us stronger learners because we had to take in so much complicated information while also doing a lot of making coffee as well.
- We learned a lot of different ways to make coffee. This is something that will become very helpful in life for me because I love coffee and this project opened my eyes to so many different ways that you can make coffee and I’m sure I will use them all sometimes in my life. I also think that I can really use the skills that I learned from taking note throughout this unit and apply that to my life when I am in college because that was sort of the way that we were taught.
Reflection
I really enjoyed this project because I got to learn a lot about the brain and that is something that really catches my attention. I feel like I did learn a lot during this unit because I was really focused on trying to learn about the different things in the brain that I wouldn't have know if I didn't pay attention. This was really fun also because I was in the science committee and got to learn even more about the brain and show the class everything that we had learned
