Throughout this project we were taught different things so that we could be the artists that we wanted to be and apply that to the biology of the project. We started at the beginning just drawing stuff that we saw using a framing device and then went small statues which were relatively simple compared to the anatomically correct drawings that we ended up creating. after the small statues we drew and observed flowers in our class. The lily that we observed had so much detail that it was hard to capture everything and shade it so that you could tell what was what in the drawing. We went through lots of practice before even going to our anatomical drawings. We learned about all of the elements of art and how to apply them. The elements of art are Texture, Line, Value, Shape, and Form. We applied all of those to the drawings that we drew.
What I have learned about the scientific process through the creative process is that they are very similar. There are lots of similarity but to me the one that sticks out the most is the structure. There is lots of structure in the scientific process that you can then transfer over when you use the creative process. There were very simple steps that you would follow to make sure that both of the processes came out clear and the way that it is supposed to be. They are also very closely related because they are both super detailed and you have to make sure that you are actually getting all of the details in both drawings and in your observation notes.
Some challenges that I faced while doing this project were the drawings for sure. I came into this class thinking that I was just going to be learning bio and not doing any drawing but boy was I wrong. I thought that since they were two different things there was no way that they could be related in one class but now since I am making connection I realize that they are very closely related in everything that we do in this class. I face the challenges and I think that I came out on top. There were lots of times where I really didn't want to draw it because I knew that it wasn't going to be the best, But I tried my best and decided to actually give it my all. That worked out in my favor because I have learned that even though it is something out of my comfort zone I can make sure to try and I will probably be able to do it with little to no complications. That is how I am going to go into next semester and make sure to have a good attitude in whatever challenges I may face.
I think that creating my best work and making myself proud is just a great feeling so making sure that I am able to do that more often so that I can feel good all of the time about the work that I am creating and in the way that I carry myself in the classroom. I can carry the way that I feel about creating beautiful work because I want to be able to go out and say that I did give it my all. I think that if i continue with the attitude that I had at the end of the semester I will be able to keep up some great work in the semesters to come.
